Today’s offering is a used 600Ws studio monolight strobe kit in great usable condition. The kit consists of the following:

This is a great lighting kit perfect for the photographer just starting out on a studio adventure. It’s light-weight enough to be portable and bright enough for a wide variety of photographic applications. The monolight’s bodies and tube covers are of molded heavy-duty polycarbonate. The tube covers have had cracks successfully repaired. The aluminum reflector, carrying the marks, dings and shape of used aluminum reflectors, is perfect for use with the umbrella or for strong shadow applications. The umbrella’s center shaft telescopes for compact storage. The Chimera softbox mount ring has been modified to fit the heads (
no softbox is included in this auction
). The grid spot shows some surface damage that will not impede it’s usefulness or alter it’s illumination quality.
The VS-3000 Monolights, at 300Ws each, give more than enough light for many digital or film applications. The output is continuously variable from full power to 1/32 power using the variator dial. Six lamps, five green and one red on the control panel indicate the power setting of the flash. Modeling lights are three option switchable: off; full power; tracking with the monolight output setting. The lights can be fired using the included PC sync cord, via the built-in visible light slave or via the built-in infrared trigger. The visible and infrared slaves are switchable for on/off. An open flash button is provided to fire the light manually. A switchable audible chirping accompanies the power recycle and full power ready. The modeling light section and flash power section are protected by separate fuses. There is an additional four pin connector on the control panel that is unidentified.
Concerning the modeling lights, the VS-3000 heads are rated for a maximum 150W lamp. However, the purchaser will receive two 250W lamps that were in the heads when we received them. It is suggested that these 250W lamps be replaced with appropriate 150W bulbs as the monolights are not fan cooled. Using high wattage modeling lamps without forced cooling will cause heat damage to the structural and/or electrical integrity of the monolight and light modifying accessories.
